摘要:1495546 Heat-bonding staple fibre yarn IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd3 March 1975 [21 March 1974] 12587/74 Headings D1F and D1W A process for making abonded staple fibre yarn from a sliver containing at least a proportion of thermallybondable fibres comprises withdrawing the sliver under tension from delivery means bythe action of a fluid twisting the tensioned sliver by the action of fluid, activating thebondable fibres in the sliver by heated fluid, forwarding and tensioning the sliver in astream of heated fluid through a heat treatment duct constructed such that the angleformed by the sliver entering and leaving the duct is at least 70‹ and from which the sliverissues as a bonded yarn at a temperature below the bonding temperature of thebondable fibres and receiving the yarn under tension in collecting or forwarding means.The various steps may be carried out by different fluid jets but preferably by the singlefluid jet shown, the heat treatment duct being in the form of a tail pipe 11. Heatedcompressed air entering through inlet 9 spirals around helical thread 21 thereby drawingthe sliver through inlet 17 and twisting and heating it. Preferably insert member 13 is oflow thermal conductivity so that stray fibres do not adhere. The fluid jet may draw thesliver from the last pair of rolls of a drafting apron. The arc of curvature and length in
inches of specified curved tail pipes are 780‹/30 in., 420‹/30 in., 330‹/30in., 180‹/16in.,85‹/16in., and 77‹/16in. In other embodiments the tail pipe as a sharp or a radiused 90‹bend or is a straight pipe with a hole in the side through which the yarn is removed. Theyarn may be taken up on a cheese. The sliver may comprise a mixture of bondable fibres,preferably 5 to 40% by weight with fibres that are non-bondable under the conditionsused or all the fibres may be bondable. The bondable fibres may be conesheath or sideby side (e.g. trilobal) composite filaments. Examples (bondable component first) arenylon 6/nylon 66, polyethylene terephthalate - ethylene adipate / poly(ethyleneterephthalate and poly(ethylene terephthalate - ethylene isophthalate)/poly(ethyleneterephthalate). Thermally bondable homofibres which may be used alone include nylon66 and poly (ethylene terephthalate). Those which may be mixed with non-bondablefibres are nylon 6 and polypropylene. Fibres which are non- adhesive under suitableconditions are nylon 66, regenerated cellulose poly(ethylene terephthalate)polyacrylonitrile and natural fibres The examples give many numerical details.
