My Daily Routine

Hi there! My name is Emma and I'm 9 years old. I go to Oakwood Elementary School here in my hometown. Today I'm going to tell you all about my daily routine from when I wake up to when I go to bed at night. Get ready for an exciting day in my life!

My day starts when my mom comes into my bedroom around 7:00am to wake me up for school. She gently shakes me and says \"Emma, time to wake up sweetie!\" I groan a little because I never want to get out of my cozy warm bed. But I know I have to get up and get ready.

Once I'm awake, I go into the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. I have to make sure my teeth are squeaky clean! After that, I head back to my room to get dressed for the day. I love picking out my outfit - I usually go for something colorful and fun like a skirt with hearts or leggings with rainbows. By 7:30am, I'm all ready and I head to the kitchen for breakfast. My mom makes the best breakfasts! Some of my favorites are pancakes with syrup, oatmeal with berries, or eggs and toast. While I'm eating, my mom packs my lunchbox for

school with a sandwich, fruit, veggies, and a snack. I drink a glass of orange juice or milk too.

At 8:00am, my mom gives me a hug and kiss goodbye and I walk out the door to wait for the school bus. I love riding the bus because I get to sit with my best friend Lily and we talk and giggle the whole way to school. The bus drops us off right at 8:30am.

My first class of the day is math. Sometimes we learn about addition and subtraction, and other times it's multiplication or word problems. Math can be kind of tricky but I do my best. After math, we have reading time where we practice our reading skills. Then it's time for my favorite part of the day - recess!

During recess, Lily and I along with our other friends run around and play on the playground. We love swinging on the swings, going down the slides, and playing chase or tag. Sometimes we also play handball against the walls. Recess gives us much needed exercise and a break from sitting at our desks. After recess, we head back inside for science and social studies classes where we learn about planets, animals, history, and geography. Science is pretty interesting but social studies can be a little boring to me. We also have an English class to practice our writing, grammar, and reading comprehension.

Finally, at 12:00pm, it's time for lunch! I love opening up my lunchbox to see what tasty food my mom packed for me. After I eat, I have some time to go outside and play again on the playground or kick a ball around with my friends.

In the afternoon, we have classes like art, music, gym, and computers. Art is one of my favorites because I love drawing, painting, and being creative. Music class is fun too - we sing songs and learn about notes and rhythms. Gym is great for burning off more energy by running around and playing games. At last, the final bell rings at 3:00pm signaling the end of the school day. I meet my mom outside and we walk the few blocks back home together. She asks me all about my day at school while we walk. Once we're home, I have a small snack like apple slices or graham crackers to hold me over until dinner.

I spend the next couple hours doing my homework for the night. I try to get it all done in the afternoon so I have the evenings free to play and relax. If I need help with anything, my mom is there to assist me. Once my homework is finished, I have some free time to myself. I love playing outside if it's nice weather, riding my bike around the neighborhood, or playing make-believe games. If I have to stay inside, I color in my

coloring books, play with my dolls or Legos, or watch a show on TV.

My mom starts making dinner around 5:30pm. For dinner, we'll have dishes like spaghetti, tacos, chicken and veggies, or soup and sandwiches. We always have fruit for dessert too. I help set the table and then my dad gets home from work right around 6:00pm, just in time for us to all sit down and eat together as a family.

After dinner, my parents let me watch a little TV or play on the iPad for a short time. But by 7:30pm, it's time to start getting ready for bed. I take
