摘要：1357840 Organosilicon composition STAUFFER CHEMICAL CO 20 Dec 1972 [30Dec 1971] 58950/72 Heading C3T A binder composition containing as binder a silanecondensate is formed by mixing (a) at least one silane of the formula or in which R and R1represent monovalent C 1 -C 10 hydrocarbon radicals, R11 is a divalent C 2 -C 6hydrocarbon radical, and R111 is a monovalent C 1 -C 10 hydrocarbon radical orhydrogen; (b) at least 0À8 moles of water per mole of hydrocarbonoxy groups directlyconnected to a Si atom; (c) a diketone or #-ketoester in an amount of at least 0À5% wt.based on the weight of the silane; and (d) sufficient acid to provide a pH of 1-0 to 5À5,and optionally an organic solvent. Preferred diketones have the general formula whereinZ is a divalent radical having 1-4 carbon atoms, and R1111 are monovalent C 1 -C 12hydrocarbon, halohydrocarbon or oxyhydrocarbon radicals. Preferred #-ketoesters aremethyl-(or ethyl-, or propyl-) acetoacetate. The binder compositions can be mixed withparticulate solids, preferably zinc dust, to form coating compositions; and optionally afiller such as calcium and magnesium metasilicates, fibrous mineral fillers such as
asbestos fibrous talc, fibrous calcium meta-silicate and gypsum; colouring pigments suchas iron oxide, CdS, TiO 2 and lithopone. The weight ratio of binder to the total amount ofzinc and filler may range from 70 : 30 to 10 : 90. In Examples 2-7 coating compositions areprepared by mixing Zn dust with binder compositions prepared by adding different
diketones to a solution of methyltriethoxysilane, acetic acid or HCl, ethylene glycolmonoethyl ether as solvent, and water, the diketones being one of:- acetylacetone,benzoylacetone, butylrylacetone. In Example 9 the coating composition is prepared byadding Zn dust to a binder prepared from water, methyl tri-(2-methoxyethoxy) silane,HCl, ethylene glycol monoethyl ether and benzoylacetone. The compositions are thenapplied to a sand-blasted steel substrate. Uses.-Coating metal substrates.
