My Hometown Baoding
Hi there! My name is Lin Lin and I'm from a city called Baoding in Hebei Province, China. Baoding is pretty close to Beijing, the capital city. I really love my hometown and I'm excited to tell you all about it!
Baoding is a big city with over 1.1 million people living there. It's been around for a really long time – over 2,500 years! You can still see some old buildings and city walls from the ancient times. My dad told me Baoding used to be the capital of different kingdoms and empires back in the day. Pretty cool, huh?
The weather in Baoding is great. We have all four seasons – spring, summer, fall, and winter. Spring is warm with flowers blooming everywhere. Summer gets super hot though! That's when all the kids go swimming and eat lots of ice cream. Autumn is nice and breezy with the leaves changing pretty colors. And in winter we get snow sometimes which is so much fun to play in!
There are lots of fun things to see and do in Baoding. One of my favorite places is Zhili Governor's Residence. It's a big, beautiful garden with traditional Chinese buildings, ponds, and rock gardens. I love exploring all the little pathways and pavilions there. You can also dress up in ancient costumes and take photos - my friends and I did that once and it was hilarious!
Another awesome place is Baoding's Muslim Quarter. It's the biggest Muslim community in northern China. Their mosques have amazing architecture with green glazed tile domes and minarets. And the food there is sooooo delicious! You have to try the naan bread, lamb kebabs, and noodle soups. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Of course, no place is perfect. One downside of Baoding is that it can get really polluted and smoggy sometimes from all the factories and cars. We often have to wear face masks on bad air days. But the government is working hard on making the city more environmentally friendly. Fingers crossed it keeps getting better!
Baoding is famous for a few special things too. We make some of the best preserved fruits and veggies in China, especially big radishes and sweet potatoes. People come from all over to buy our yummy snacks. Baoding is also the \"Horse Township\"
since we breed amazing race horses here. I've been lucky enough to see them running at the racetrack - they are so powerful and fast!
Speaking of animals, we have some really cool ones living around Baoding. In the Taihang Mountains near the city, you can spot golden monkeys, leopards, and even black bears if you're lucky! There are bird watching trails too where you might see cranes, eagles, or the cute little brown eared pheasants that are Baoding's city bird.
Most of all, I love the sense of community and tradition in my hometown. Neighbors look out for each other and we celebrate tons of festivals and holidays together. My favorite is the Lantern Festival in spring when we decorate the streets with beautiful lanterns and eat sweet rice balls. The Dragon Boat Festival races are super fun too - I got to be in one of the dragon boats once and it was amazing!
Baoding also has famous operas, acrobatics, Kung Fu, and other performing arts that have been passed down for centuries. I'm learning some of the Kung Fu styles in my after school class. Maybe I'll put on a show for you one day!

My Hometown Baoding
Hi friends! My name is Xiaoming and I'm from a city called Baoding in Hebei Province, China. Today I want to tell you all about my awesome hometown. Get ready to learn some cool stuff!
Baoding is an ancient city with a reaaally long history going back over 2,500 years. Can you imagine that? It's older than lots of other famous cities in China. A loooong time ago, it used to be the capital of the State of Dingzhou during the Warring States Period. That was when different kingdoms fought each other a whole lot. Pretty crazy, huh?
Even though Baoding is an old city, it's actually pretty big and modern these days. Over 1.5 million people live there! That's like 20 times bigger than my elementary school. The city has tall skyscrapers, huge shopping malls, and all the latest technology. But it also has historic sites and traditional architecture mixed in. It's the best of both worlds - modern and ancient!
One of the most famous things about my hometown is the Baoding Fantastic Rocks. These are super cool, strangely shaped rocks that almost look like living creatures. Some people say they have special energy and powers. There are rock museums where you can see the coolest and weirdest rocks. I love checking them out whenever I go!
Another awesome thing in Baoding is the Ancient Guan City site. It used to be a massive city wall and fortress a really, really long time ago. Parts of the wall and gates are still standing after over 2,000 years! My grandpa told me stories about epic battles that happened there. You can walk along the wall and pretend you're a warrior from the past. How fun is that?
My favorite part of Baoding is the amazing food! We have tons of delicious local snacks and dishes. The most famous is called zhaozi, which are super tasty rectangular baked pies stuffed with all kinds of yummy fillings like pork, vegetables, and eggs. I could eat zhaozi for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Another must-try food is wangzhihe, which are long twisted strips of fried dough covered in brown sugar syrup. They're sweet, chewy, and crispy all at the same time. Yum! We also have awesome lamb dishes since Baoding has been an important
trading stop on the Silk Road for centuries. I love the spicy cumin lamb kebabs!
You know what else is great about Baoding? The people! Baodingers are known for being warm, friendly, honest, and hardworking. My neighbors are like family to me. We look out for each other and my parents' friends are like my aunts and uncles. It's one big community.
Baodingers also love to have fun! Every year we have the huge Baoding Radish Harvest Fair where we celebrate our famous radishes. There are radish exhibits, radish cooking competitions, radish art, you name it! Everything is
radish-themed and it's a total blast. I always go with my friends and we play games, eat radish treats, and watch the performances.
In the summertime, my favorite thing is going to Xiong'an New Area nearby. It's this amazing eco-city they're building to be super green and sustainable. There are forests, lakes, and park areas perfect for hiking and having picnics. The air is so fresh and clean! I love riding my bike on the trails and watching for wildlife. It's a great place to get some peace and quiet away from the busy city.
Well, that's Baoding in a nutshell (or should I say radish shell?!)! From the fantastic rocks to the yummy food to the radish fair to the eco-parks, my hometown is simply the best. It's rich in history and culture but also modern and lively. I'm so lucky I grew up surrounded by such an amazing place. Baoding will always have a special place in my heart no matter where I go! My Hometown Baoding
Hi there! My name is Xiaoming and I'm 10 years old. Today I want to tell you all about my awesome hometown, Baoding. It's in Hebei Province in the north part of China. Baoding might not be as famous as Beijing, but it's still a really cool place with lots of fun things to see and do.
Baoding is an ancient city with a very long history going back over 2,500 years! It used to be the capital of some big kingdoms and empires. That means there are tons of old buildings, temples, and cultural sites to explore. My favorite is the Zhili Governor's
Residence which has beautiful gardens and architecture from the Qing Dynasty era hundreds of years ago. It's like stepping back in time!
But Baoding isn't just about old stuff from the past. We also have lots of modern attractions too. One of the newest is the Baoding City Center District with its huge skyscrapers and shopping malls. The district has an amazing light show every night where the whole area lights up with colorful lights and music. It's so cool! There's also an awesome indoor ski slope and waterpark called Sunac Land. You can ski down real snow slopes inside the building, how crazy is that?
Baoding's most famous product is probably our Baoding balls. They're those little metal balls that spin around each other. Playing with Baoding balls is said to improve your focus and hand strength. My grandpa is really good at them! There's even a Baoding Ball Museum in my city dedicated to the history of these special balls.
Another popular thing from Baoding is our local snacks like Baoding's yogurt drinks and fried dough twists. The yogurt drinks are so thick and creamy, almost like milkshakes. And the fried dough is sweet and crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. Just thinking about them is making me hungry!
As for the rest of the city, Baoding has a mix of modern and old everywhere you look. There are still little neighborhoods with traditional courtyard homes dating back hundreds of years. But then you'll also find brand new shopping malls and apartment towers right next door. It's a cool blend of the ancient and modern all smushed together.
The downtown area has a lot of places for kids like me to have fun too. There's an indoor trampoline park with foam pits to jump into, VR gaming zones, kids' museums, and even a Chuck E. Cheese! Every weekend my parents take me and my little brother somewhere fun like that.
Of course, like any city, Baoding does have its downsides too. The traffic can be horrible during rush hour with cars barely moving on the roads. And some parts of the city are pretty polluted from all the factories and construction happening. But overall, I still love living here in Baoding.
What I love most though is simply being close to my big family. Almost all of my aunts, uncles, and cousins live right here in Baoding too. That means we get to see each other all the time for holidays, birthdays, and Sunday dinners. Every weekend there's some kind of family gathering happening. It's always loud
with everyone talking over each other! Sometimes it drives me crazy, but I know I'm lucky to have such a huge, close family. So as you can see, Baoding might be a smaller city compared to Beijing or Shanghai, but we've still got plenty going on to keep things interesting. From our ancient historical sites to modern skyscrapers, amazing snack foods, fun attractions for kids, and families always around, Baoding is an awesome place to grow up. First, let me tell you about the history of Baoding. It's an ancient city that's over 2,500 years old! Wow, that's really really old. A long time ago, there were lots of different kingdoms and dynasties ruling over China. Baoding was an important place
during some of those ancient times like the Qin, Han, and Tang dynasties. It had a famous general from the Three Kingdoms period named Guan Yu who is still very respected today. There are temples and statues of him all over Baoding!
Because it's so old, Baoding has a ton of super cool historical sites and relics. One of the most incredible is the Zhili Governor's Residence which used to be the mansion for the regional governor way back in the 1600s. It's this gigantic traditional building complex with dozens of rooms, courtyards, and gardens. I went there on a school field trip and it felt like being transported back to ancient China. So awesome!
Another amazing ancient site is the Xiaobaihu Tombs. This is where members of royal families were buried over 1,400 years ago during the Northern Qi dynasty. Archaeologists have uncovered over 3,000 tombs there with skeletons, pottery, jewelry, and all kinds of treasures still preserved inside. It's crazy to think those people lived so long ago! My class got to see some of the artifacts in a museum display which was really cool. But Baoding isn't just about old stuff from the past. It's also a thriving modern city with over 11 million people living there. The urban downtown areas are full of tall skyscrapers, offices, shops,
and restaurants. There are tons of things for kids like me to do, like going to movies, arcades, parks, museums, you name it. Speaking of parks, Baoding has some wonderful big green spaces. My favorite is Qingcheng Park which has beautiful gardens, a small amusement park, a lake with paddle boats, and lots of trails to walk or bicycle around. In the summers they often have fun festivals and events happening there. One year there was even a museum exhibit about dinosaurs which was super duper cool!
Baoding is alsofamous for its delicious food! The most iconic dish is jingaoli which is a type of thick fried dough stick. They have been making jingaoli in Baoding for hundreds of years so they're experts at it. The best jingaoli shops have lines out the door with people waiting for hours just to get some! My grandma makes jingaoli at home too and hers are just as yummy. Another hugely popular Baoding food is shaomapao, which are kind of like little hamburgers but with pork filling instead of beef. You can find shaomapao vendors absolutely everywhere around the city streets. People eat them for breakfast, lunch, and snacks. My dad always takes me to this one little shop near my school to get shaomapao before class. So delicious!
Baoding is also low-key famous for its resident animals! I'm talking about the Baoding Spotted Handsome Dog and the Beijing Buttercup chicken. The Baoding dogs are this unique breed that have been raised around here since a long time ago. They are so cute and friendly. As for the Beijing Buttercup chickens, they were first bred in the villages outside Baoding about 200 years ago. They lay these perfect pretty brown speckled eggs. My uncle has a small farm with some Baoding dogs and Buttercup chickens which is fun to visit.
I could seriously go on forever about Baoding because there's just so much awesome stuff there. Even though it's not quite as famous as huge cities like Beijing, it has a super rich culture and history. Plus it has all the modern conveniences of a big city while still preserving traditions and lovely natural scenery.

My Hometown Baoding
Hi there! My name is Xiaoming and I'm from Baoding city in Hebei Province, China. Today I want to tell you all about my awesome hometown! Baoding is a really cool place with lots of fun stuff to see and do.
Baoding is an ancient city with a long history going all the way back to the Shang Dynasty over 3,000 years ago! Can you believe people have been living there for that long? There are some really old buildings and ruins you can visit to learn about the past. My favorite is the Zhili Governor's Residence which used to be where the governor in charge of the whole province lived. It has pretty gardens and you can see how rich people lived a long time ago.
But Baoding isn't just about old stuff from the past. It's a big, modern city too with over 11 million people living there! The downtown area has tall skyscrapers and nice shopping malls. My parents sometimes take me to Wanda Plaza which has every store you can imagine. I love going there to look at all the toys! Baoding is famous across China for its cool scenery and natural sights. We have these awesome rock formations called the Xiong'er Mountain and Qingfeng Peak that look like a crouching tiger and phoenix bird. Doesn't that sound amazing?
Then there are parks like Mancheng Reservoir where you can go hiking, boating, and enjoy the fresh air. My class went on a field trip there once and we had a picnic lunch. So much fun!
You know what else Baoding is known for? Delicious food! We have the most scrumptious noodles and dumplings. My absolute favorite is zhajiang mian, which are noodles with a savory soybean paste sauce on top. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water! Another Baoding specialty is niangao, a sticky rice cake that we eat during holidays. Yum yum!
Baoding also has some wild animals that are pretty neat. In the Baihua Mountain Nature Reserve, you can see golden monkeys swinging from the trees. They're these funny little orange monkeys that are super cute. And Baoding is one of the only places left where you can find crested ibis birds in the wild. They're beautiful with long curved beaks and feathers that are red, white, and black. I went on a school trip to try to spot them once. We didn't see any that day but it was still cool learning about them.
I could go on all day telling you about Baoding's awesome stuff, but I better wrap this up. I hope you learned some interesting things about my hometown! Even though it's a huge city, it feels like home to me. The sights, the food, the

My Hometown Baoding

First of all, Baoding is a pretty big city with over 11 million people living there. That's a lot of people! The city has been around for a really really long time - over 2,500 years. It used to be called Zhili way back in ancient times. These days people also call it the \"Brilliant Diamond City\" because it has buildings that sparkle and shine in the sunlight. Pretty neat, right?
Even though Baoding is a big modern city now, it has tons of cool old historic stuff too. There are ancient temples, palaces, and gardens everywhere you look. One of the most famous is the Zhaozhou Bridge which was built over 1,400 years ago during the Sui Dynasty. Can you believe a bridge could be that old? It's
made out of huge stone slabs without any cement holding it together. The ancient engineers who built it must have been really smart!
Another super old place in Baoding is the Xiongan New Area. This used to be a tiny village but now it's being rebuilt as a totally new high-tech green city for the future. The government says it's going to be an amazing model city with self-driving cars, artificial intelligence, and all kinds of futuristic stuff. I can't wait to see what it looks like when it's all done!
My favorite thing about Baoding though is all the amazing food we have here. We're famous across China for our
Baoding-style salty crispy chicken. It's so crunchy and delicious! You'll also find the best jian bing (crispy crepe things) andούyiβό (stuffed pancakes) anywhere. I love getting them piled high with eggs, lettuce, sauce and other yummy fillings. Just thinking about it is making me hungry!
Baoding also has tons of fun parks and outdoors stuff to do. In the summer you can go to the Baiyangdian Lake and swim or go boating. It's the biggest freshwater lake in northern China. There are also tons of lush green parks and gardens filled with flowers and trees everywhere you look. We have the world's
largest garden filled with peonies - my favorite springtime flower. So pretty!
When the weather gets cold, we go and play in the snow at Xiaowutai Mountain. It's not a huge mountain but it has ski slopes and trails for sledding and having snowball fights. You can stay overnight in a yurt and sleep on comfy wool blankets. Last year I tried ice fishing for the first time and (believe it or not) I actually caught a fish! Well, my dad helped a little bit.
Speaking of outdoor activities, Baoding has some amazing scenic areas to explore nature too. My favorite is the Yesanpo National Geological Park. It's filled with crazy looking rock formations and cliffs made from red sandstone. The rocks are all twisted and swirled from being eroded by wind and rain over millions of years. It looks like another planet! You can hike, rock climb, and explore the caverns. Just watch out for the sneaky rock squirrels that might try to steal your snacks!
I could go on forever about all the cool things in Baoding, but I better wrap this up. Baoding might not be as famous as huge cities like Beijing, but us locals know it's a fantastic place to live.
