Learn by Yourself or with a Teacher?
Teachers bring with them varied and useful backgrounds. They've been trained to teach individuals in different ways depending on their style. Whether we need a teacher or not depends on circumstances. The relationship between a teacher and a new subject is somewhat similar to that between a tour guide and an unknown city.
When we come to an strange city for the first time, we absolutely need a tour guide. We might have a detailed map, but it is unlikely functional-it isn't surprised that we can hardly interpret those mysterious symbols. For instance, some students learn better by discussing a topic. Teachers can help students learn in the way that's best for each student. A textbook or a manual can only give you one way of learning something. A good teacher can adapt her teaching to your needs.
After a period of time, we've known a lot than before. We now know the city pretty well, even though there are still many places we haven't been to. It doesn't matter. Now that we are able to recognize those mysterious symbols on the map, what we need perhaps is not a tour guide but a more detailed map. Similarly, we need richer references for learning. Yes, there are still many fields unexplored; they are, nevertheless, no longer puzzling. The task is simple: we will explore them one by one, little by little. If we are working on a certain skill, practice more; if we are preparing a test, practice more; whatever we are learning, what is always to bear in mind is that, like people always say, practice makes perfect.
After another period of time, we might have become others' tour guide, but we still want to learn more. We want to know which restaurant is the most decent, which bookstore is the most professional, which coffee shop is the most classical. Even the most comprehensive map doesn't have adequate information. We again need experts, to learning, it's much the same. We need experts to consult for specific problems. Furthermore, the most beneficial merit of consulting experts is that we can not merely refer to them but even discuss with them in depth. As is often the case, a solution for a complex matter is not waiting for us right there and
then, sometimes it comes out of inspirations of discussion.
In all, having a good teacher is always better than having none. but the importance of a teacher varies from period to period, and more often than not depends on different stage in which we are learning.)

正确答案:(
Highways or Public Transportation, Which Should Be Bunded?
As it is known to all, the government should spend more money improving public transportation than improving roads and highways.
There is no denying that improving the public transportation will surely
alleviate the pollution given off by enormous cars. If a city has not a developed public transportation, the air will be polluted more heavily. What a dirty environment we will live in! Every day breathing into the air filled with the flour of the gasoline, seeing the sky with the dull color will be the title of our life. So the essence of environment has been realized by an increasingly number of people, to the governments, the protection of environment is especially an undeniable mission.
Although the construction or improvement of highways and roads seems to be able to enhance traffic efficiency and improve road conditions, what it really does is to encourage car uses, which could produce the opposite effect. In many cases, the mushrooming of newly-built highways and roads has sometimes even brought down the efficiency of roads because as more roads are built, many more people begin to buy private cars. The number of cars put to use each day far outpaces the number of miles constructed, resulting in an even more serious situation for road users.
Besides, as more cars hit the road, carbon dioxide emissions will skyrocket. The green-house effect has long been considered a global threat which haunts the international community. One little bit we could do for the sustainable development of the earth is to cut back on car uses so that the release of harmful gases could be reined in a bit. More roads and highways, however, would only encourage the trend of uncontrolled car use.
Investing in public transportation, on the other hand, could not only truly
improve the traffic situation but also contribute to the environment. Better public transportation services could reduce the number of cars on road by large margins as more people would choose public transportation over driving their own cars. This will ease traffic congestion and at the same time, curb to a large degree the amount of hazardous emission released. Furthermore, compared to the cost of erecting new highways and roads, the funds required to upgrade public transportation services are not as mind-boggling.
In sum, improving public transportation is a better way out for the government for it is not only effective in solving traffic problems, but also environmentally friendly and financially viable.)
