EQ means emotional intelligence. The expression “emotional intelligence” is used to indicate a kind of intelligence that involves the ability to perceive, assess and positively influence one's own and other people's emotions. While IQ (Intelligence Quotient) defines how smart you are, EQ (Emotional Quotient) defines how well you use what smarts you have. Unlike IQ, which is pretty much established at birth, EQ can be learned, implemented and improved upon at any age. In fact, studies show our emotional intelligence increases as we get older -- peaking between 50 and 59.
Why do some people always seem to succeed at work, while others of equal -- or higher -- intelligence don't?
Emotional intelligence, often referred to as EQ, is a set of abilities that lets you form optimal relationships with yourself and others. And research shows it can be a far better predictor of life success than IQ.

Thank you honorable teacher, thank you distinguished classmates and my fellow debaters. Just now, you said that EQ is more important than IQ. I’m afraid I can’t agree with you entirely. Now, I stand for our team to expound our opinion: IQ is more important than EQ.
IQ: refers to people know objective thing and utilization knowledge solution actual problem ability. Intelligence including multiple aspects, such as observation, memory, imagination, the analysis judgment ability, thinking ability, strain capacity etc. In this light, the intelligence is a person’s world view decisions and judgments, is an important part of accumulated experience of human beings.
（智商：是指人们认识客观事物并运用知识解决实际问题的能力。智力包括多个方面，如观察力、记忆力、想象力、分析判断能力、思维能力、应变能力等。这样说来，智力是决定着一个人的世界观和判断事物准则，是人类积累经验的重要组成部分。）
Mankind from apes（猿） that starts with brain capacity increase just makes human civilization of rapid development, this is the role of IQ, rather than EQ, only IQ can help the development of the society. Therefore, in the process of the development of human civilization,

including today's society, IQ is always plays a leading role, more important than EQ. We think: IQ is a foundation, EQ is superstructure. IQ decided that the person in the face of things exhibited good quality, and one of only quality EQ.

Q: IQ is dear, EQ is dearer. The person who have had a great success, may not be able to have the super wisdom, but must have high EQ, for liubang zhuyuanzhang, zengguofan. And we think that the higher EQ could make person more successful. so, my fellow debaters, could high IQ bring higher achievement?

I hate to disagree with you，but your point is totally wrong！ As we all know, Edison invented the light, he worked hard around the clock, experienced failure of thousands of times, Finally Edison brought light to mankind，The achievements and the efforts of his own, Edison's own cognition: Genius is one percent inspiration, plus the 99 efforts. The one percent inspiration is IQ，the 99 efforts is EQ. If Edison do not have high EQ, he may be only had a dream about the light, but he didn’t have enough brave to face with the failure. If Edison did not insist to do thousands of experiments，he would have filed. Thank you!
